Vandana Vidhyut Limited is a flagship company of Vandanaa Group. Vandanaa Group is a regular profit making, professionally managed, industrial organization of Chhattisgarh and engaged in the business of Steel and Power for the past 26 years. The Group made a humble beginning in the year 1970 when it had established three Rice Mills and supplied Sal seeds.

In Indian tradition “Vandanaa”, stands for Worship. As is in the group logo, it symbolizes hearty welcome conveyed by joining of the palms close to the heart, also known as “Vandanaa.” Inspired by “Work is Worship”, the group was formed by its patriarch Shri Niranjan Lal Agrawal more than four decades ago in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Shri Niranjan Lal Agrawal had been at the helm of affairs with over 60 years of experience in diversified fields like agriculture, trade and industries. He has now been succeeded by his sons Shri Gopal Prasad Agrawal, Shri Subhash Chand Agrawal, Shri Vinod Agrawal, Shri Prahlad Agrawal, Shri Ashok Agrawal and his grandson Vijit Agrawal & Prateek Agrawal and granddaughter Akriti Agrawal. All are well qualified and have a vast experience in setting up of industries and running them successfully. Progressing from the manufacturing of steel, power and its value added products, the group has explored forward & backward integration to capture the value chain.

Vandana Vidhyut Limited currently operates 8 MW Rice Husk based Bio-Mass Power Plant at Bilaspur (C.G.), driven by our expertise in generating and managing Captive Power Generation assets and exploring the emerging opportunities in power deficit scenario. The Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 4th June 2007 with the Government of Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board (CSEB) for setting up a coal based Thermal Power Project of 540 MW capacity at Village Salora, Dist. Korba, Chhattisgarh. The project is under implementation in phases. The Company has signed the Implementation Agreement on 1st August 2009 with the Govt. of Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company Limited (CSPHCL). The company has decided to enhance the project capacity to 1200MW by adding an additional 660MW.To execute the MoU of the enhanced capacity, the company has submitted an application to the State Govt.

The project is at an advance stage of implementation and has got almost all clearances viz. execution of lease deed of land, allotment of water, allotment of coal block (Jointly), coal linkage (Tapering), Environmental Clearance from MoEF, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Consent to Establishment from the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board, AAI approval for the height of Chimney etc.

Financial closure for Phase I , II and III is achieved and the commercial date of operation (COD)
I st Phase     -  1 x 135 MW - November 2011, 1 x 135 MW – February 2012
II nd Phase  -  1 x 270 MW – June 2013
III rd Phase  - 1 x 660 MW - March 201 6
