Vandana Vidhyut Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Chhattisgarh & Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board for setting up a coal based Thermal Power Plant of 540 MW at Dist. Korba, Chhattisgarh. The Company proposes to enhanced the project capacity to 1200 MW by addition of 660 MW capacity (Super Critical Technology) , the company has submitted an application to the State Government for approval for enhancement.
The site is proximate to Fatehpur East Coal Block and is also proximate to the power deficit parts of Northern India. Further, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) has erected transmission lines in the vicinity of the project through which power can be evacuated to different load centers in a cost effective manner. The site is well connected both by rail and road. The project has close proximity to captive coal block, evacuation point and railway station.
The Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India has allotted Fatehpur East Coal Block jointly with four other companies for 540 MW Project capacity. The required clearances, viz. acquisition of land, water allotment, coal linkage, environmental clearance, Air port Authority clearance, and execution of Bulk Power Transmission Agreement (BPTA) with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) have already been obtained for 540 MW capacities. The Company has applied for the coal linkage and the allotment of water for the enhanced project capacity of 660 MW. The Commercial Date of Operation for 1st Phase 135MW is November 2011 and 2nd Phase 135 MW is February 2012 and 3rd Phase 270 MW in June 2013 and 660 MW in March 2016.
- Land for 540 MW already acquired and in the possession and for remaining 660MW capacity the land acquisition is in the process.

- Water allotted 18 McM water from Hasdeo River.
- 5. The company has secured supply of coal by Captive Coal Mine in JV ( Fatehpur East Coal Pvt. Ltd).
- Coal linkage with SECL
- Long Term open access for IPP already obtained from Power Grid Corporation Limited .
- PPA is signed with CSPTCO.
- Power Trading Category III license.
- Financial closure for 1st , 2nd and 3rd Phase is achieved.

- M/s IL & FS Financial Services Ltd. for Debt Syndicator for Phase-III.
For Unit-I & II Civil & Structural work is completed. Main equipments like Boiler along with its Auxiliaries, Turbine has already reached at site. Also Balance of Plant (BOP) materials has reached at site. Erection of BTG & BOP like Coal Handling Plant, Ash Handling Plant, Switchyard, Transformer, Electrical Panels etc. are under progress.
